New site for Irish Planning Institute

Updating the site

The new content management system allows the web site to evolve constantly, with input from any IPI member, while requiring minimal time and no special technical ability or tools on the part of the editors or members.

  • A member, having logged in, submits an article by first selecting the type of article to be submitted, and then filling out a simple web-based form. By copying and pasting text from an existing document, this process need only take a minute or so. This article is now archived and can be found through the search facility on the web site.
  • The IPI editor(s) are automatically notified by email of the new article.
  • The editor may chose to delete an article from the archive, select it to be featured on one or more pages of the web site, or leave it so that it will only be found through an archive search.
  • These editing decisions can be executed in seconds, with no need for web page editing skills/software, FTP upload etc. By making the process so simple, one can realistically expect that the web site will be kept up to date, and change often enough to keep members visiting the site regularly.
